Using the UMBrella Newspaper Search
The best way to find newspapers is to use our Newspaper Search. This will search through a billion newspaper articles from hundreds of newspapers.
Once searching in UMBrella, the Newspaper Search will appear as an optional filter on the left. It is also an option on the bar at the top of your screen. You can use the “journal title” filter to select one or several newspapers to get results from.
NOTE: Newspaper articles no longer appear in the general UMBrella search, so you will need to use the Newspaper Search for access. You may see "newsletter" articles, but these are different than newspaper articles. Newsletter articles are: serial publications consisting of no more than a few pages, devoted to news, announcements, and current information of interest primarily to a specialized group of subscribers or members of an association/ organization who receive it as part of their membership.
If looking for access to only one newspaper, such as the New York Times or Boston Globe, explore that FAQ.
