Current UMB faculty, staff and students, whose library records are in good standing, are eligible for a Boston Library Consortium (BLC) card. Massachusetts residents are eligible for a BLC card through the Boston Public Library.

  • Apply for a BLC Card for UMass Boston community members

  • To acquire a consortium card not through UMass Boston: requests for Consortium Cards must be made to the information desk or reference staff at the Boston Public Library

  • BLC Member Libraries and Policies

  • A BLC card does NOT provide remote access to any online texts or databases available at BLC libraries.

Using a BLC card

  • Register at the participating library's circulation desk.

  • Borrowing privileges and expiration dates vary at each institution. Check the policies of individual libraries.

  • UMB patrons are responsible for all fines/fees charged to their BLC card.

Note:

Periodically throughout the academic year, other schools may offer limited hours for library visitor access. Please call the member library in question to confirm their visitor access hours before making a special trip. You may also Ask a Librarian for assistance with planning your visit to another library.
