The APA (7th edition) citation for a curriculum vitae (cv) or resume will depend on the format and whether the document is retrievable.
- If the document is available online and can be accessed by anyone, then cite it as a web document.
- If the document cannot be accessed by others, then cite it as a personal communication and do not include it in your reference list.
Citing a web document
When all information for a web page or web document is present, the basic format is:
Lastname, F. M. (Year, Month Date). Title of web page or document. Site name. URL

Citing personal communication
In APA 7th Edition, any communication that cannot be directly retrieved by a reader is considered “personal communication.” Emails, phone conversations, text messages, and social media messages are all examples of personal communication. You do not include personal communication in your reference list; instead, parenthetically cite the communicator's name, the phrase "personal communication," and the date of the communication in your main text only.

If you reference personal communication in a footnote, as is common practice in certain fields and publications, you can document it in the same way.
