Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra) is currently not supported by Mendeley, however there is a workaround. Follow these steps:

  1. Mendeley Desktop must be closed
  2. Locate your local database file using option a or b.

a. Follow the location path below.
Mac: /Users/your computer name/Library/Application Support/Mendeley Desktop/

b. Cmd + Shift + D> Open Data Directory 

3. Delete your local database file (the entire Mendeley Desktop folder)

4. Launch Mendeley Desktop.

5. Uninstall and reinstall Mendeley Desktop.
