Historical articles from newspapers are often not formatted to fit on standard 8 x 11 paper.
Print to fit automatically scales the article text to fit on the printed page. This option is available in the New York Times (ProQuest Historical Newspapers) or any of the ProQuest historical databases.
Sometimes this option shrinks the text so much that is unreadable. In this case, you need to tweak the pdf options to print a readable document. The options available to you will depend on your pdf reader and printer.
