The Main Stacks are bookshelves that hold the library’s collection of circulating print books.  Materials in the stacks are classified by subject according to the Library of Congress Classification.

The call number is like an address: it tells  where the book is located in the library stacks. Refer to the library directory for the location of CALL NUMBERS within the stacks. Signs are posted throughout the stacks indicating the specific locations of call number ranges. Because books are classified by subject, you can often find several books on similar topics by browsing the shelves in one area. Patrons may retrieve books directly from the stacks.  Please inquire at the Circulation or Reference Desk if you need assistance locating material in the collection.
