Thank you for your question.

1. InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is a service by which one library obtains, by request of a library user, material not available in the user’s local library from another library.  Interlibrary Loan uses the University’s Single Sign-On authentication system.

2. This service usually takes 1-10 business days. Articles and book chapters usually arrive in three to four business days, sometimes on the same day. However, some hard to find or hard to process articles and book chapters may take longer, typically three to ten business days.

The timing depends on which library has the item, if they are willing to lend it out, if it is in use by their patrons, how far away they are, what kind of shipping they use, etc.

To check the status of your request(s), sign into your account and look at Outstanding Requests. See the Guide to Statuses for a description of the statuses.

3. There is no charge for current students, faculty, and staff of UMass Boston.
