When searching for articles in Spanish, the databases have built-in functions to help you find foreign language articles. The following examples are from the popular databases ProQuest Central, Academic Search Complete and JSTOR. In addition to the databases the library discovery tool UMBrella and the catalog WorldCat provide access to articles in foreign languages. Go to the Advanced Search page and narrow to specific language. 

ProQuest Central

ProQuest has a few options when searching for Spanish language articles.

In the Advanced Search page go to the boxes Source type and Language 

  • Choose in Source type either magazines, newspapers or scholarly journals.
  • Choose Spanish in the Language box.

Click search and the results will appear for Spanish language articles.

From the results list you may further Narrow results by Publication title or subject

Click on any of the titles and the options appears to search within the publication or browse specific issues.

Academic Search Complete

The database Academic Search Complete can also be searched for Spanish language articles.

Go to the Advanced Search page and choose Spanish from the language settings.

JSTOR

JSTOR database also has a language setting. Follow the same directions as above.

Go to Advanced Search and choose Spanish language from the drop-down menu.
