OpenAthens is the library's new sign-in method for off-campus access to library resources – articles, books, journals, and media. The majority of the library resources will use the new OpenAthens sign-in however a select number of resources will continue to use the EZProxy method. In both instances the sign-in process is the same.  You will be prompted to sign-in with your UMass Boston email and password.

EZProxy as is true also for OpenAthens should require no configuration on the user's part. The connection to EZProxy is coded into the regular links to databases on the library's web pages. When you click on a link to an online library resource, EZProxy checks whether your computer is on-campus or off.

  • If you are on-campus, you will bypass EZProxy and be sent directly to the resource.
  • If you are off-campus, you will be required to sign-in with your UMass Boston email and password, then be sent to the resource.

If you have problems, make sure the your browser can accept cookies or that the browser is not currently configured to use another proxy server.

The EZProxy address is http://ezproxy.lib.umb.edu/login?url=
