  • An embargo is a revenue-generating device that publishers often impose on database vendors, which restricts them from offering the most recent journal articles; this is done to prevent libraries and individuals from cancelling subscriptions
  • This period of delay - typically 12 months - is determined on a journal-by-journal basis
  • When an article you want is embargoed, you can request it via the library's InterLibrary Loan service
